EVERYONE HAS A PURPOSE

Sometimes you know what you’re hardwired to do…
For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a special connection with animals – especially dogs and horses.
Well, fast forward a few years and I found myself working on the medical side of the horse business. From Florida to Kentucky to California, I worked at commercial horse farms with hundreds of horses with no nearby equine hospital or veterinarians. If a medical emergency happened, it was my job to handle it until the farm veterinarian arrived.
While I loved working with horses, there was never a day off, and I began looking for something different. Eventually I traded horse handling for bartending. When the world shut down in 2020, I knew it was now or never.
I could continue on the path I was on… or I could finally create a job for myself that I loved. On March 19th, two days after Illinois closed all bars & restaurants, Canine Athletics was born, and I’ve never looked back.
Your dog is meant to be an athlete.
Throughout my educational and professional career, I saw a consistent trend across all domesticated species of animals.
Animals are physically and mentally healthier when they’re allowed to do what they are biologically hardwired to do.
Despite domestication, genetics play a role in your dog’s wellbeing. Every breed of dog is meant to do a different “job” – herd, hunt, track, swim, retrieve, etc.
Without a “job” to do, this unspent physical energy manifests as problems for both you and your dog.
This can look like OCD behaviors, anxiety, depression, aggression, and more. Your dog isn’t bad; your dog is just bored.
Your dog needs the freedom to be a dog, not just your favorite couch cuddler.

At Canine Athletics, your dog gets the freedom to unleash his “inner dog.”
